A urine odor, like the one you are smelling could be coming from your air conditioner. This can happen when pets or other animals urinate on or near the unit; if this has happened to you, thoroughly clean the area where it spilled. If not, then there may be mold inside which needs to be cleaned up for it to stop spilling into the machine’s ventilation system and causing that awful smell.
One cause of an air conditioning system that smells like urine is a clogged drain line in front of or underneath the indoor unit. If not tended to promptly with chemical cleaners-a common homeowner remedy is ammonia-it might produce rank odors for weeks afterward.
