There’s no good way to put this – ammonia has a very strong and distinct odor, definitely not one that we would call “nice.” It smells like rushing air and urine together and is often described as smelling like cat pee, which is understandable considering it can come from either end of the animal. Ammonia is found in many household cleaners because of its powerful cleaning ability. It can also be found in car air fresheners or products designed to de-nitrogen your lawn (some people say these smell like wet dog).
